Award winning Chicago based rock band SEA OF MONSTERS features lead vocalist Timothy Barrett-Ford, John DiNunzio (guitars & vocals), Jon Pomplin (bass guitar, fretless bass,  keyboards & backing vocals) and Tara Rich (drums & percussion. They released their debut CD/EP in December of 1998. Produced and engineered by Phil Bonnet, one of the greatest engineers to come out of the Chicago area, the release led to a summer tour, including appearances on "The Fox Diner" stage at “Taste of Chicago” for Fox TV (WFLD-32) and several local radio and TV outlets. Following the tour and departure of 2nd guitarist Bill Czerny,  Sea of Monsters were signed to a record contract with an Illinois label and began work on the follow up full length record. Unfortunately, though several tracks were nearly finished or completely done, the record was shelved in 2001 and the group disbanded due to ongoing problems with the label and management. The members went their separate ways and didn't connect again for over a decade. 

In late 2018, original members, John DiNunzio and Jon Pomplin, were able to track down the master 24 track tapes from the 2000/2001 studio recording sessions for the label. The tape reels were restored and the tracks converted to hi-resolution digital format by the team at Sonicraft A2DX. These previously unreleased songs have been completed and will soon be mixed and mastered for release in December 2020. The CD version will also include the demo versions of 2 songs originally engineered by Mike Thompson and Jon Pomplin at the studio in 2000 and re-recorded from scratch in later sessions.

In preparation of the new release, Declassified Records has re-issued 4 tracks from the original CD/EP to digital format. Remastered by Grammy winner Neil Citron from Chicago icon Phil Bonnet's original 2 track master. these will also accompany the new track on the upcoming record.
